Iconoclasm says that the art in our churches betrays the message about who God is and should be destroyed. But it boils down to one thing: politics. All of the other heresies we've covered have their roots in the church; a pastor or someone in power shares their idea wrong idea about our something in our faith and it spreads. Christian Nationalism and iconoclasm both began in politics, not the church. But art often conveys things that no pastor can capture, insights into Jesus that we might miss otherwise. The difference between an idol and icon are important and the heresy we're exploring today.
